Tenders Are Invited for Battery Storage Systems
The Government of Barbados, through the Ministry of Energy, has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for a total of 60 MW of battery energy storage systems (BESS) with a capacity of 240 MWh.
The projects are to be implemented on a Build–Own–Operate (BOO) basis, with energy storage services subsequently provided to the local distribution company, Barbados Light & Power Co.
The large-scale battery storage facility will enable better balancing of fluctuating electricity generation, increase reliability of supply and support the national target of achieving 100% renewable energy by 2035. This initiative complements the ongoing cooperation between the EU and Barbados in supporting the country's energy transition under the EU Global Gateway initiative. Therefore, the tender is open to companies from all EU Member States. |
